Job Purpose:
The Multi-Lingual Publishing Group (MPG) is responsible for the content and communities’ strategies, which support the IB’s vision, mission and business models. MPG facilitates content and product creation and their delivery in multiple languages. Within MPG, IB Publishing Ltd. (IBP) is a commercial enterprise. It organizes the preparation and packaging of the IB’s programme content for sale in print formats (the digital version being delivered under the fee structure to all IB schools). It organizes and commissions products, merchandise and titles for sale or subscription outside the fee structure and it manages and promotes the relationship with the IB’s wholesale/distributor Follett. 

IBP is responsible for licensing IB intellectual property ant it negotiates and manages contracts with third parties to maximize the number of products geared specifically for IB schools, teachers, and students.  IBP engages with content collaborators in the following relationships: licensing of IB’s IP, co-publishing arrangements, content integrations and other potential content collaborations. Potential collaborators can be both producers of print resources as well as digital educational resources and education content platforms.

Job Duties: (Global responsibility)
  • The Licensing Manager’s key responsibility is to find new licensing, co-publishing or collaboration opportunities that fit with IB’s strategy. Responsibilities include searching, finding and selecting the right content collaborations to develop and publish joint publications for the IB community
  • Manages the opportunities pipeline and brings contract negotiations with third parties to closure with an agreement
  • Develops, adapts and manages IB’s co-publishing program & collaboration framework for publishers and education solution providers. The position, drafts up related policies and reviews these as appropriate
  • Oversees for MPG that the collaboration framework is meeting the IB community’s needs and remains compliant with regulatory policies
  • Develops new Licensing opportunities from idea to new contract. Develops business cases for new collaboration & licensing opportunities to support the decision-making process
  • Sets up, negotiates and manages contracts with review contractors and partner publishers
  • Manages the joint development and co-publishing projects in time, budget and on quality
  • Develops new business opportunities and maximizes revenue from existing collaborations generating sales through royalties and licensing fees
Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor degree and/or equivalent in Business, Publishing, Marketing or related fields
  • More than 5 years experience and solid knowledge of educational (digital) content, publishing, licensing and the business models that apply in educational publishing
  • A sound skillset in project/ program management, and expertise of content publishing workflows and content interoperability
  • Experience in a position requiring direct negotiating of contracts as the primary condition of success, with contract negotiation, including licensing rights and royalties, and/ or product or business development within the K-12 education publishing industry
  • Demonstrated experience in development of cross-cultural and multilingual portfolios, titles and products
  • Experience in develop and maintaining business relationships preferably with education publishers, developers, cultural organisations and other educational organisations
  • Preferably experience in managing and developing collaborator programs 
  • Preferably commercial proficiency in two or more languages
  • Knowledge of the IB, IB Programmes or being an IB Alumni is a plus
