The position reports to the HR Director.

The IB has 5 offices in 3 continents and employs people from over 50 nationalities. Working across a diverse and culturally rich organisation, requires strong people skills and a passion for engaging with, coaching and developing them.

The purpose of the role
The IB wants to enable its managers to achieve collective and agreed upon performance objectives. It has been growing and developing as a successful international organisation and has identified a need for a full time professional, who will be available to managers, at all levels in the organisation, to support them in their business-critical roles in effectively managing and enabling a diverse set of colleagues who are passionate about the IB mission.

The primary role will be to partner with this group of managers and leaders of the IB, to enable them to clearly articulate what is needed to achieve goals, focus on managing through behaviours and competencies leading to high level performance and improved employee engagement for both manager and those managed.

The initial task in this role will be to design and build a sustainable and scalable worldwide programme that delivers.

Areas of Responsibility/Impact
Always keeping in mind the international nature of the organisation, its diverse work force and global stakeholders, the incumbent will need to deliver the following:

Plan for transformational change
  • Engage with management, contribute to the performance culture of the IB while understanding the role of the manager,
  • Develop a common terminology and vocabulary to use throughout the organisation, ensuring its use is embedded by articulating clearly the objectives and purpose of the programme to managers and staff.
Create the methodology for driving the plan
  • Evaluate current behaviours and management competencies, establishing plans for what is needed in incremental steps forward.
  • Introduce state of the art change management methodologies that are fit for purpose
  • Integrate the plan seamlessly in the day to day operations of the organisation.

Engage with individuals and teams
  • Determine the development needs of management on a professional and personal level, and develop bespoke individual development plans to embrace and drive change.
  • Create a sustainable framework that helps management teams to collaborate and form interdependencies that are in synch with the IB’s mission and vision of a ‘’ONE IB’’
  • Enable change-related activities and communication, training, coaching and supporting management
  • Identify and deal with resistance and/or cynicism to organisational transformation
  • Help propagate an attitude of a ‘’duty of care’’ with all managers
Internal advisor, enabler and coach
  • Be a dedicated resource for management, a support and trusted advisor. Work through organisational ‘’champions/sponsors’’ for initiatives to gain momentum, visibility and credibility for the plan
  • Conduct project reviews, create recommendations and lessons learnt to support continuous improvement of the plan
  • Provide regular updates to the Director General and the Senior & Extended Leadership Team on the progress of the plan, any obstacles to be overcome, and new initiatives to be introduced
Partner with the HR team
  • Work very closely with HR colleagues in aspects of change and organisational development, so they can assist and support the organisational transformation process through various initiatives, inter alia, but not limited to feedback received through pulse surveys, exit interviews, think tank groups, etc.
  • Assist with the performance management process by partnering with the HR team and providing all stakeholders with ongoing feedback to improve the process, focussing on training appraisers in managing day to day performance
  • Help co-create an organisation wide learning and development plan based on feedback received and to meet future organisational needs

  • A post graduate degree in organisational psychology, organisational change or change management is essential.
  • Project management and coaching certifications will be an advantage.
  • Candidates should have had substantial years of experience in an organisational role working with top/senior management on creating an organisational culture that delivers successful outcomes through people, including a track record of tangible client impact organisational change.
  • Proven ability of challenging & enabling teams to work together across functions to deliver outcomes that exceed the needs and expectations of stakeholders, creating environments that demonstrate equality and foster trust and respect.

  • Communicating complex subjects clearly. Have a business focus to better understand the impact of changes across the organisation and return on investment of resources (ROI focus)
  • Coaching with encouragement, understanding and using tough love where needed
  • Creating a culture/ethos of continuous learning and improvement
  • Display a broad knowledge of HR, especially change management, coaching, communication and engagement
  • Political awareness and an ability to work with, and influence, a range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Multi- tasking and ability to prioritise across competing demands.

The position is based in The Hague, The Netherlands, but travel to the IB’s other global centres Singapore, Geneva(CH), Cardiff(UK), Bethesda(USA), is required on a regular basis.
